Major Division (Ages 11 & 12)

ESLL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ASSIGN PLAYERS TO DIFFERENT DIVISIONS THAN THEIR AGE DICTATES. THESE DECISIONS MAY BE BASED ON SAFETY ISSUES, ABILITY LEVELS, OR OTHER FACTORS AS DETERMINED BY THE LEAGUE. For information on how Little League determines baseball age, click HERE


MAJORS Division (Ages 11 & 12)

Game Management / Playing Time

 -        Entire rosters will be placed in the batting order (continuous batting lineup will be used)

 -        Late arriving players will be placed at the bottom of the batting order per coach’s discretion

 -        If an Injured player is unable to hit in their designated spot, the player will be removed from the batting order and their spot will skipped (with no out penalty) for the remainder of the game.

                         o   Once a player a removed from the batting order, they cannot re-enter the game.

-        Defensively, no player may sit for two consecutive innings.

-        No player may sit defensively for more the two innings in a game. 

-        No new inning may be started after 1:45 of game time, 2:15 is drop dead.

-        Standard game time is 6 innings (or 5.5 with home team advantage)

-        There is no game stoppage run-rules. (Meaning the game is not over until 6 innings are played or 1:45 is complete).

-        The home team is responsible for supplying at least 3 game balls to the umpire

-        For regular season play, coaches will be in charge of keeping their own pitch count and must supply documentation if requested.

-        The home team is in charge of keeping the official score. And disputes are resolved by the home plate umpire

-        There is required to be an adult in the dugout area at all times.

-        Any other rule not specified on this list goes by official minors division little league guidelines.

-        All male players are required to wear a cup at all times.

-        Any arguing with the umpire will not be tolerated and a coach ejection results in an additional game suspension.

 

Pitching

 -        League Age Pitch Limits

                  o   13-16 - 95 pitches per day

                  o   11-12 - 85 pitches per day

                  o   9-10 - 75 pitches per day

                  o   7-8 - 50 pitches per day

 -        Pitchers league age 14 and under must adhere to the following rest requirements:

                 o   If a player pitches 66 or more pitches in a day, four (4) calendar days of rest must be observed.

                 o   If a player pitches 51-65 pitches in a day, three (3) calendar days of rest must be observed.

                 o   If a player pitches 36-50 pitches in a day, two (2) calendar days of rest must be observed.

                 o   If a player pitches 21-35 pitches in a day, one (1) calendar days of rest must be observed.

                 o   If a player pitches 1-20 pitches in a day, no (0) calendar day of rest is required.

 

 -        Exception: If a pitcher reaches the limit imposed in Regulation VI (c) for his/her league age while facing a batter, the pitcher may continue to pitch until any one of the following conditions occurs: 1. That batter reaches base; 2. That batter is put out; 3. The third out is made to complete the half-inning.

 -        Note 1: A pitcher who delivers 41 or more pitches in a game cannot play the position of catcher for the remainder of that day. Note 2: Any player who has played the position of catcher in four or more innings in a game is not eligible to pitch on that calendar day.

-        A manager or coach may come out twice in one inning to visit with the pitcher, but the third time out, the player must be removed as a pitcher. Example: If a manager visits Pitcher A once in the first inning, then makes a pitching change in the same inning, Pitcher B would be allowed two visits in that inning before being removed on the third visit.

 

 

Batting

 -        There is no on deck circle. Only the lead off player is allowed to warm up swinging in between innings.

 -        There is the dropped third strike rule. EX: A batter MAY advance in this situation.

 

Base running

 -        Base Stealing rules

                 o   Open stealing regardless of an overthrow to the base the runner is trying to steal.

                 o   Baserunners may not lead off

                 o   Baserunners must remain on the base until the pitch crosses home plate.

 -        Base runners may advance on an overthrow at their own risk and may continue to advance on each subsequent overthrow if defense tries to throw out the advancing runner. Theoretically a base runner could circle the bases on routine ground ball in the infield. (The rule is specifically for balls hit in the field of play)

 -        Collisions are the plate are illegal and will result in an automatic out.

 -        Sliding head first is illegal and will result in an out.

 

Standings

 -        Standings will be sent out every Monday.

 -        Teams will be ranked by league record.

                o   Tiebreaker 1 = Interleague record

                o   Tiebreaker 2 = Head to head

                o   Tiebreaker 3 = Coin Toss
